Concussions and Traumatic Brain Injury
A concussion affects how your brain processes information and is often called a traumatic brain injury. While affects are often temporary, side effects may include headaches and concerns with focus, memory, concentration, mood and self-regulation along with your ability to balance.
Research has shown that it may take from four months up to one year before symptoms from a concussion are recognized as a continuing problem.
Many of the side effects that can be experienced with a concussion, whether it has been recently experienced or happened years ago, are concerns that our clients have experienced. Many individuals who use NeurOptimal neurofeedback have seen improvement with symptoms involving memory, concentration, focus, sleep issues, stress, repetitive thoughts, headaches, mood swings, aggression and anger.

“My three-year-old granddaughter had a significant brain injury and was in a coma. She lost her ability to speak in complete sentences, stared blankly, avoided people and was afraid of transitions and anything new. At five years of age, her parents did 40 sessions of neurofeedback. The changes were amazing. She can now talk to me on the phone in complete sentences, laughs and giggles with others and is back to her adventurous self. She even enjoyed skiing with her family, a sport that terrified her after her brain injury.” – 65-Year-Old Grandmother with a Granddaughter Who Suffered from a Traumatic Brain Injury
Neuroptimal neurofeedback training is a holistic brain-training program that does not force the brain to move in any one direction. It simply provides feedback to the brain on what it has just done. The system reads the electrical patterns of the brain in real-time and then this information is mirrored back via sound (feedback). It’s a custom program for each individual training and many of our clients have experienced transformational changes.
After my son hit his head in a fall, he had daily headaches for six weeks, several times a day lasting from 10 minutes to hours. After doing one neurofeedback session, my son’s headaches were minimized to about fives minutes in length, and went down to once or twice a day. After only 2 neurofeedback sessions, they totally went away. It was amazing! I am so grateful that the headaches went away and for the opportunity to participate in a neurofeedback program. My son loved doing the sessions and I feel so much better knowing we did something to help his brain to heal.”
