Time Saving Tips 11/15
Tactile Trackers and Wagon Wheels, both visual pursuits, are a fun way to add some excitement to your S.M.A.R.T. program. They are fun to make and add variety for the students. Remember that new and novel stimulate the brain! We suggest switching out Tactile Trackers every two weeks. Adding fun in S.M.A.R.T. sometimes means thinking in terms of themes or seasons or unit topics.
In our S.M.A.R.T. Pre-K CORE program guide we have an Awesome Autumn theme. Leaves can become great Tactile Trackers. Please download these leaves to use as new visual pursuits in your program. Just as the photo shows, adding some color around the border gives the students a quick visual as to what line to trace. For early childhood educators, have fun adding some texture to the leaves to provide a tactile feel. Glue dots, glitter, puff paint, etc all can be added to the outline to provide tactile stimulation.
